Description
1826 Erie Canal Completion Medal AU55 NGC. HK-1. White metal. Listed as "extremely rare" in the 1963 Hibler-Kappen reference. This evenly struck example has lustrous borders, and the devices are also outlined with luster. The fields and highpoints have toned dove-gray. A strong loupe reveals a few minor field marks. An Uncertified AU55 example of this issue was sold by Heritage in the February 2008 Long Beach sale for $517.50, including buyer's premium.Auction Info
