Extremely Rare 1939 Charbneau Gold
So-Called Dollar, HK-488, MS64
1939 Charbneau Dollar, HK-488, MS64 NGC. Gold, R.8 (5-10
known) according to the 2008 Hibler-Kappen rarity scale. Issued by
San Francisco fine arts appraiser and dealer. Obverse Golden Gate
Exposition, reverse large sculptured head of Pacifica. A nice,
attractive and lustrous medium yellow-gold example of this
extremely rare so-called dollar. From a mintage of 2,500 gold
pieces for 1939, most of which were melted soon thereafter.
