Description
Confederation Dollar, HK-866, MS63 Prooflike Uncertified. White metal, 38.1 mm. Issued by coin dealer Thomas Elder in the early 1900s, this piece uses the Confederation vignette of the $40 Continental currency notes of 1778-1779. Hibler-Kappen considered this issue to be "rare," and the infrequency of auction appearances confirms that claim. The current example displays frosty devices with prooflike fields, although the reverse is slightly hazy. NGC has not certified a single example of this elusive issue.
