Description

Republic Proof Threepence 1892, KM3, very rare (mintage estimated at 35-40 pieces), PF64 NGC, nice and choice, a few minuscule ticks and scuffs, a small metal flaw near the beading at 7 o'clock reverse, brilliant reflective mirrors with lovely light silvery color, hues of pastel golden blue here and there. Most of the mintage has been mishandled over the past 100-plus years, and few sets remain intact. The average piece is mishandled. This is a happy exception to the rule of how these look nowadays. Krause value is $1,200 but the market is intense, these are rare, and recently we have witnessed sales of proofs of this issue far in excess of Krause values. We will put a broad estimate but expect to see this sell near the top end if not higher.
