Description

Highly Attractive 1916 Quarter, AU58

1916 25C AU58 NGC. The first year of issue 1916 Standing Liberty quarter is perhaps the most sought-after piece in the entire series, along with the 1918/7-S. Its 52,000-piece mintage is second only to the '18/7-S, that according to J.H. Cline in his Standing Liberty Quarters reference, has an estimated production of about 2,500 coins.
The About Uncirculated 58 example offered here displays bright silver-white surfaces that possess ample luster. Most of the design elements exhibit fairly good detail for an issue that is almost always weakly struck, though the shield is soft, especially the inner one. A few light circulation marks are visible, the most notable being a linear abrasion on the left gate and Liberty's wrist(Registry values: N2998)
