Description
Key Date 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter MS63 Full Head
1916 25C MS63 Full Head PCGS. The 1916 quarter, struck in a transitional year between the Barber and Standing Liberty designs, is one of the most famous 20th century silver rarities. Only 52,000 pieces were struck and very few survive today. This is a satiny example that is essentially untoned, only showing trace amounts of color on either side. Well struck for this often poorly defined issue, and displaying just two or three trivial nicks on the obverse. The surfaces display a very distinct matte-like texture in the field areas, which actually serves to increase the noteworthy visual appeal of the piece. This exceedingly scarce key date quarter is housed in an earlier PCGS holder with a pale green label. From The Park Cities Collection.(Registry values: N4719)
