Description
1916 Standing Liberty Quarter, MS63
Original Toning, Satiny Luster
1916 25C MS63 NGC. While the 1916 Standing Liberty quarter
is often available overall, the date remains one of the biggest
challenges for many collectors of this series due to the strong
premiums that examples carry in all grades. Demand for the issue is
responsible for the high value of the coins, and even pieces as
worn as Poor 1 with dates effaced never fail to find eager
bidders. For many collectors, the pinnacle of achievement is the acquisition of a Mint State 1916 Standing Liberty, particularly with original toning. This satiny Select example is an excellent collector-grade Mint State example. Original russet and light golden toning graces each side, while minor abrasions are not bothersome for the grade. Liberty's hair detail is slightly soft, but the overall definition of the design is pleasing. Census: 59 in 63 (2 in 63+), 96 finer (10/23).(Registry values: N2998)
