Description
1916 Standing Liberty Quarter
MS65 Full Head
Luminous First-Year Key Coin
1916 25C MS65 Full Head NGC. Struck from an early state of
the dies, with luminous, fresh mint luster that still exhibits a
touch of the micro-texture typical of the 1916 and 1917 issues. The
rims are broad and squared, and the leading edge of the eagle's
left (facing) wing is fully defined. On the obverse, Liberty's head
boasts profound definition for the 1916, and the date is sharp.
Softness throughout the stars on the walls and the shield rivets is
the poorly refined 1916 design and not a product of the strike.Full Head 1916 Standing Liberty quarters are scarce in Gem or better grades, and collectors often have to wait years to find just the right coin. This piece may fill the slot for one patience specialist. Listed among the 100 Greatest U.S. Coins. NGC Census: 56 in 65 (4 in 65+, 2 in 65?), 30 finer (12/25).(Registry values: N4719)
