Description

1916 MS 63 PCGS. As one of the three key dates in the Standing Liberty series and the first year of issue, the 1916 quarter is unquestionably one of the most highly sought after of all 20th century silver coins. Only 52,000 pieces were minted and uncirculated coins are very scarce and have always been high priced. This is a well struck example that has lovely satin-like luster over fine-grain matte-like surfaces. Generally untoned in the centers, the peripheries show a ring of golden-brown patina around each side. While technically not a perfect coin because of a few minute abrasions, the overall appearance and attractiveness of this piece is really closer to a coin that grades a point or two higher.
