Description

1917 Standing Liberty Quarter
MS67+ Full Head
Popular Type Two Variant

1917 25C Type Two MS67+ Full Head PCGS. The first-year Type Two Standing Liberty quarter from Philadelphia is a rarity in Superb Gem condition. A few dozen pieces survive in MS67, a handful are in MS67+, and one -- a PCGS coin -- grades MS68 Full Head (11/25). The present example is firmly within the Condition Census of Full Head examples. It displays sharp definition on Liberty's head but slightly soft on the shield and toes due to die erosion. This die fatigue is also responsible for the frosty, radiant luster than engulfs each side. Daubs of olive, amber, russet, and crimson toning appear around the peripheries, surrounding light golden interiors. No mentionable abrasions are seen. PCGS Population: 31 in 67 (7 in 67+), 1 finer (11/25).(Registry values: N4719)
