Description

1918 Quarter Dollar, MS68
Condition Census Rarity

1918 25C MS68 NGC. Any Standing Liberty quarter in MS68 is a major condition rarity, and many issues are unknown this fine. The high crest of Liberty's leg, in particular, was susceptible to abrasion when stacked against other coins, and contact marks in this area usually prevent coins from grading finer than MS65, let alone the Superb Gem level. This blazing, brilliant 1918 quarter is tied with one other NGC coin as the finest in non-Full Head. A pair of MS68 Full Head coins are also listed at PCGS (10/17). The shield lines and rivets are sharp, as are Liberty's toes, the stars, and the eagle's feathers. Weakness at Liberty's temple is the only imperfection on the coin.(Registry values: N4719)
