Overdate 1918/7-S Quarter, AU55

1918/7-S 25C AU55 NGC. FS-101. The extensive popularity of the 1918/7-S quarter reaches well beyond specialist circles, since overdates as a class have their own adherents and enthusiasts. In "The Ten Top Error Coins," an article in the June 1996 edition of Coins by Al Doyle, the 1918/7-S Standing Liberty quarter ranks sixth on the list, which also includes other memorable overdates, such as the Denver and Philadelphia 1942/1 dimes and the New Orleans and Philadelphia 1887/6 Morgan dollars. Similarly, this charming piece is sure to rank highly with the successful bidder. Only slight, even wear is seen over the high points, and each side displays muted gray patina with a tinge of golden. A few shallow field marks are seen on the reverse, but none are worthy of individual mention.(Registry values: N4719)
