Description
Desirable AU55 1918/7-S Quarter
1918/7-S 25C AU55 PCGS. FS-101, formerly FS-008.5. The 1918/7-S is the key to the series in better grades. This is partly because only one obverse die bore an overdate, but principally because the variety went undiscovered until 1937. By then, many if not most examples were worn to the point that the date was no longer readable. The present piece, however, appears to Uncirculated upon first inspection. It is lustrous and brilliant with impressively unabraded surfaces. Telltale friction on Liberty's left (facing) leg confirms a momentary encounter with circulation, but the eye appeal is outstanding.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 243A, PCGS# 5726, GSID# 5571)
