Impressive Gem 1919-D Quarter Dollar

1919-D 25C MS66 NGC. While considerable quantities of coins were produced at the Denver Mint in 1919, it seems that most were of lower quality with poor strikes. Consider the rarity of high-grade examples of all the silver denominations, especially the half dollar. This quarter dollar has a strong strike for the issue, and nearly qualifies as a full head example. The surfaces have brilliant and frosty luster with light peripheral iridescence. A few small abrasions are present on the obverse. This is one of the finest examples of this issue to be certified. Just one finer MS67 example of this issue has been certified, considering the populations of both grading services combined. Population: 16 in 66, 1 finer (11/04).(#5730) (Registry values: N2998)
