Description

1919-S Quarter, MS64 Full Head
Sharp Shield, A Rarity This Fine

1919-S 25C MS64 Full Head NGC. Full Head examples of the 1919-S quarter dollar are scarce in all grades, but they become major rarities at the Gem level. This attractive near-Gem represents a more accessible option for the collector seeking a high-grade Full Head example of this conditional key. The shield lines and rivets are bold, and Liberty's head displays pleasing detail. The eagle's feathers are sharply defined. This coin is brilliant with satin luster and no major distractions. The 1919-S has long been recognized as a rarity with the Full Head designation, and it is even more difficult to locate than the certified population reports suggest. Census: 20 in 64 Full Head, 13 finer (12/23).
