Description
1919-S Quarter, MS66+
Boldly Struck, Well-Preserved
1919-S 25C MS66+ PCGS. CAC. The 1919-S is a better date in
all grades, courtesy of a low mintage of little more than 1.8
million pieces. Most of that production went into circulation,
where the majority remained until their dates were no longer
readable. This issue has one of the lowest Mint State populations
of the entire series, rivaled only by the elusive 1918/7-S and
1927-S, although the latter two command much higher prices overall.
This is the single highest-graded, non-Full Head 1919-S at PCGS,
and only two Full Head pieces have been certified numerically finer
(5/14). Liberty's head is typically soft, though the remainder of
the strike, especially the date, is sharp except for the two shield
rivets near the waist. The lustrous surfaces are practically
pristine and display attractive peripheral golden-russet
toning.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 243D, PCGS# 5732, Greysheet# 5579)
