Description

Premium Quality 1921 Standing Liberty Quarter Rarity, MS 66 PCGS

1921 MS 66 PCGS. Despite its lack of definition on Liberty's head, this is a wonderful example of this challenging and elusive Standing Liberty quarter issue. The strike is uncommonly bold but just misses a full head designation. Liberty's face is completely defined but the top of her head displays a weakness that becomes less pronounced the further one's glance moves from her forehead. The balance of the devices, however, are very crisp with the shield rivets, inner shield, drapery lines, toes, and eagle's breast well executed. Only at the date does poor definition again become an issue, although we note that here too it is not widespread but confined predominantly to the first 1. The surfaces are incredibly frosty and carry a faint overlying blanket of brown-gold patina. As befits the grade, there are no noteworthy abrasions. This lovely gem is accompanied by an NGC Photo Proof as well as a PCGS Profile. Population: 14 in 66, none finer (6/99).
