Description

1923-S Quarter, MS66
Nearly Full Head Definition

1923-S 25C MS66 PCGS. CAC. The 1923-S is a long recognized key in the Standing Liberty quarter series. Premium Gem examples are fairly evenly split between the Full Head and non-Full Head categories, both variants being scarce at this grade level. This example is far sharper than most non-Full Head coins, with Liberty's hair line being just a trifle ill-defined at the high point near the ear. Shield rivets 3 and 4, as well as the eagle's feathers, show some of the more typical weakness that is common to this San Francisco issue. This piece displays glowing, frosty luster with iridescent champagne and mint-green toning. Eye appeal is excellent. Population: 34 in 66 (1 in 66+), 5 finer (5/15).(Registry values: N1793)
