Condition Census 1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter

1923-S 25C MS67 Full Head NGC. This virtually pristine representative is equal in grade to the '23-S Quarter in the Chicagoland Collection that we recently sold as lot 6900 in our January 2003 FUN Signature Sale. The present example, however, is not as extensively toned. There are, nonetheless, blushes of golden-tan iridescence over the lower reverse and in select areas over the obverse rims. Plenty of mint brilliance remains on both sides, and the frosty textured luster is full throughout. Both the strike and surface preservation are free of criticism. Although produced to a similar extent, the 1923-S is more difficult to locate at or above the Gem Full Head level than the 1921. Population: 3 in 67 FH, there are no coins certified finer at NGC (11/02).
