Description

1924-D Quarter, MS67 Full Head
Tied Finest Full Head at PCGS
Finest in Our Auctions in Two Decades
Ex: Just Having Fun

1924-D 25C MS67 Full Head PCGS. Ex: Just Having Fun. Blinding frosty luster covers fields that are almost entirely untoned, save for some whispers of russet in the upper right quadrant of the obverse. Eye appeal is excellent, and this is further bolstered by the exquisite strike. The 1924-D is famously among the weakest struck dates in the series, Liberty's head often having a dished appearance not unlike that of the typical 1926-D representative. Weakness is also typically present throughout the shield and date. This example yields absolute head sharpness and a strong date, while the shield rivets are all visible, if not 100% rounded.
The former Just Having Fun specimen is tied for the finest example known of the date, and it is the first 1924-D in MS67 Full Head that we have handled in nearly two decades. The most recent such coin was certified by ANACS, and appeared in our auctions in 2007. We have not handled a PCGS-certified example in this grade since the year 2000. The present offering represents an unparalleled opportunity for the advanced Standing Liberty quarter specialist, and an unsurpassable type coin.
