Description

Brilliant, Superb Uncirculated 1924-S Quarter

1924-S 25C MS67 PCGS. A spectacular coin in all regards, and one of the finest '24-S Quarters extant. The luster quality is especially noteworthy with both sides displaying rich mint frost and rippling visual effects. One would be hard pressed to find more than one or two inconsequential abrasions, and those that are present are both small and not outwardly perceptible. Untoned, or essentially so, both sides are sharply struck over all features with the exception of the highest points of the major design elements. Some striations (as produced) in the right obverse field are noted for accuracy.
The 1924-S is the final S-mint Quarter of this type that displays the base upon which Liberty is standing in high relief. Unlike many earlier Standing Liberty Quarters, this issue is typically found with sharp striking definition over all four digits in the date. The present Superb Gem displays this feature. A challenging date to locate with Full Head definition, the '24-S is also an important condition rarity in the finer Mint State grades. In fact, this coin is one of only two 1924-S Standing Liberty Quarters graded MS67 by PCGS with or without a Full Head designation (1/05).(#5750) (Registry values: N2998)
