Description

1925 Quarter, MS67+ Full Head
Top-Tier CAC Registry Coin
Ex: Just Having Fun

1925 25C MS67+ Full Head PCGS. CAC. Ex: Just Having Fun. This is one of the finest known 1925 Standing Liberty quarters, one of four Plus-designated Superb Gem Full Head coins at PCGS and NGC combined, and one of seven Full Head coins in this numeric grade with CAC endorsement. This status, in combination with the Just Having Fun provenance, ranks this singular coin as perhaps the best option for advanced Registry collectors looking to complete a top-ranked set. Vibrant, satiny mint luster yields the typical "look" of the 1925 issue, but it is pristine and delicately toned in iridescent hues. Liberty's head boasts full definition, as do the stars and the leading edge of the eagle's left (facing) wing.
The 1925 is unique in the series. It was the first issue of the modified Type Two design with the date recessed, and the first to exhibit the modified shield detail. Also, the issue was only struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Pre-1925 Type Two coins typically had sharp shield details with well delineated small shield lines and clear rivets (even if not always sharply struck). But 1925 and later Type Two issues show the shield much softer, with the horizontal inner shield lines removed and the rivets less clearly separated from the shield. Other minor differences also exist. The current coin exhibits about as much shield definition as the 1925 quarter ever has. PCGS Population: 19 in 67 (3 in 67+), 0 finer (3/26). CAC: 7 in 67, 0 finer (3/26).
