    1926-D Quarter, MS65
    Elusive Full Head Example

1926-D 25C MS65 Full Head PCGS. CAC. The 1926-D Standing Liberty quarter saw an unextraordinary mintage, for the series, of 1.7 million coins -- less than half as much as the 1924-D and 1920-D, the two Denver issues that preceded it. Nonetheless it appears that a few rolls may have been saved here and there, as Gems are found with some regularity. But with Full Head details at the Gem level, the issue becomes a far different one: PCGS has seen only 18 Full Head Gems, with nine finer (11/12). This piece is not a "just barely there" Full Head but rather a piece that shows far more head detail than requisite, despite a couple of weak shield rivets. The silver-gray centers are bounded by deeper pinkish-gold near the rims, and few marks appear on either side.(Registry values: N4719)
