Description

1927-D Quarter, MS66 Full Head
Underappreciated Condition Rarity

1927-D 25C MS66 Full Head NGC. CAC. The 1927-D quarter is often overlooked in discussions of semikey dates, as Full Head coins are moderately available through MS65. But in MS66 Full Head, this low-mintage (976,000 coins) Denver issue is a distinct rarity, and finer pieces are prohibitively scarce. The present CAC coin is beautifully preserved and frosty with brilliant luster. Liberty's head is sharply struck, although the shield rivets and the lowest two obverse stars exhibit some usual softness. There are no mentionable abrasions. Census: 9 in 66 Full Head, 3 finer. CAC: 4 in 66, 0 finer (4/16).
