Description

1927-D Quarter, MS66 Full Head
Underrated and Rare in This Grade

1927-D 25C MS66 Full Head PCGS. CAC. Collectors looking for the best coins in a series often focus on things that set apart certain pieces from their more common counterparts. The Full Head designation for Standing Liberty quarters is one of those "set apart" features. Though the 1927-D has many grading events combined from NGC and PCGS just a small fraction are designated Full Head. The scarcity of Full Head pieces is well recognized overall, but the rarity of Premium Gem-quality examples is often overlooked. The current representative ranks among the finest at PCGS. Its surfaces are remarkably bright and lustrous with the faintest trace of toning on each side. Liberty's head and the eagle are sharp, while the shield rivets exhibit minor incompleteness as normal. The date area and Liberty's foot are also bold, a characteristic that is rarely seen in combination with the Full Head. Population: 20 in 66 (1 in 66+) Full Head, 0 finer. CAC: 6 in 66, 0 finer (10/16).
