Description
1927-D Quarter, MS66+ Full Head
Sharp Head and Toes
Tied for Finest at PCGS
1927-D 25C MS66+ Full Head PCGS Secure. CAC. The 1927-D is
rare and underrated in Premium Gem Full Head condition, and no
finer Full Head coins are listed at PCGS. Most of the MS66 Full
Head offerings of recent years have been reappearances of the same
few coins. This is a fresh example for the grade that we have not
previously handled. It has the distinction of being one of the two
MS66 Full Head PCGS coins that are Plus-graded, placing it within
the Condition Census of Full Head examples. It is also one of the
top seven pieces endorsed by CAC. The specialist in this series
will immediately notice that both Liberty's head and toes are sharp
-- a combination that is seen on only a handful of 1927-D quarters
of all grades. The shield rivets are slightly soft -- unavoidable
on this issue. Russet, amber, and olive border toning surrounds
champagne interiors. No distracting abrasions are seen. Population:
20 in 66 (2 in 66+) Full Head, 0 finer. CAC: 7 in 66, 0 finer
(3/18).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 243V, PCGS# 5763, Greysheet# 5596)
