1927-S Quarter, MS66
Undisputed Type Two Series Key
1927-S 25C MS66 PCGS. Among regular Type Two Standing
Liberty quarter issues, the 1927-S is the undisputed key, thanks to
a mintage of just 396,000 pieces. While the date is relatively
accessible with high or moderate levels of wear, Mint State coins
are elusive regardless of where they fall on the spectrum. This is
a Premium Gem representative, flashy silver with pink and purple
toning that deepens to claret in crescents among the lower and left
borders. A trifle softly struck on Liberty's head and the shield,
but otherwise an impressive example. Population: 36 in 66 (3 in
