Description

Rare 1927-S Quarter

1927-S MS 63 PCGS. In mint state, the 1927-S ranks as one of the top three keys of the series, in a league with the exalted 1916 and 1918/7-S issues. In MS 63, the comparisons are even more interesting. This date is a perfect example of a condition rarity: a coin that is common (and inexpensive) in lower grades, but becomes rarer (and much more expensive) in higher grades. This quarter is fully lustrous under steel colored toning, shading from light blues to light browns. A few toning spots do not distract from the overall eye appeal. An important coin for the specialist in this series.
