Description

Gem Uncirculated 1927-S Quarter, A Low-Mintage Rarity

1927-S MS 65 PCGS. The 1927-S is the rarest regular issue coin in the series of Standing Liberty quarters as the condition exceeds XF. Only 396,000 pieces were struck with most survivors low grade. Solid gems, such as this piece, are of the greatest rarity and importance to advanced collectors. Not completely struck up in all areas, the two most conspicuous areas of bluntness are on the lower rivets of the shield and across much of Liberty's head. The surfaces shimmer with scintillating mint luster and are generally brilliant, with only a hint of color evident on each side. Evidence of die clashing can be found on the reverse.
