Description

Superb 1927-S Quarter With 95% Head Detail

1927-S MS 66 95% Full Head. The 1927-S is the rarest regular issue Standing Liberty quarter. This is primarily due to the impressively low mintage of only 396,000 pieces. While other issues may be scarcer in gem condition or with full head detail, the '27-S remains the undisputed key to this important series. Most of the surviving examples are in low circulated grades, and in all grades of mint state the 1927-S quarter is twice as rare as the better known 1916. This fully brilliant gem displays no marks in the fields, only a single mark on Liberty's upper thigh. The head is very well defined, showing the three leaves, and a portion of the ear hole. The third criteria is the hairline, and while present, the line is indistinct in places. A lovely gem that is clearly superior for the grade.
