Description

Superb, Lightly Toned 1927-S Quarter

1927-S MS 66 PCGS. A hint of golden and greenish-gray patina is lightly accented at the borders with some soft russet color on this important gem 1927-S quarter. Both sides display a strike that is considerably above average, with only slight weakness on Liberty's head, the rivets of the shield, and the eagle's body on the reverse. Other important details, such as the date and mintmark are well struck up and all of the edge ornaments on the obverse are bold. The '27-S is a sought-after issue, even in VF and XF grades and as an uncirculated coin it is several times rarer than the lower mintage 1916.
