1928 Quarter, MS67 Full Head
An Incredible Condition Rarity
Stunning Original Mint Luster

1928 25C MS67 Full Head PCGS. The 1928 is one of the lesser-sung condition rarities in the Standing Liberty quarter series, but collectors are finally beginning to recognize its elusiveness in top grade. In MS67 Full Head, PCGS reports only 10 examples (one of which is MS67+), with none finer. That Plus-designated piece is Ex: Just Having Fun/Simpson, and it realized a stunning $120,000 in our recent ANA Signature (Heritage, 8/2021). Other MS67 Full Head examples of this date are rarely offered, and those in PCGS holders represent only about a third of the pieces seen.

The present coin is one that arrests the viewer's eye upon first glance. It yields blatantly original, luminous mint luster that glistens like undisturbed frost. Close study with a loupe fails to identify any noteworthy marks, and delicate ice-blue and champagne toning is a visual delight. Some softness on the shield rivets is seen, but all are at least discernible, as is the detail of Liberty's head. From a technical perspective, this piece is exquisite; from a visual perspective, it is among the finest we have seen; and from a rarity perspective, it is an opportunity of immense proportions for the Registry Set collector. Population: 10 in 67 (1 in 67+) Full Head, 0 finer (9/21).(Registry values: N2998)
