Description

1928-D Quarter, MS66 Full Head
Early Die State, Incredibly Sharp

1928-D 25C MS66 Full Head PCGS. CAC. Ex: Nevada. While more plentiful than the 1926-D, the 1928-D Standing Liberty quarter is nonetheless one of the most challenging Denver issues in the series to acquire with Full Head detail, and is among the more elusive dates in the series in Full Head overall. Any Full Head example grading finer than MS65 is rare, and only a handful of pieces are known above MS66.

This Premium Gem representative boasts natural, glistening mint luster with mostly brilliant color, save for a thin vertical grease streak (as made) on the eagle's right (facing) wing. Neither side has mentionable abrasions, contributing to the high degree of quality for the grade that earns CAC endorsement. But the hallmark of this coin is its strike, from an early die state, with crisp details and no clashing or lapping. The definition on Liberty's head is unsurpassable, and even the shield exhibits nearly full definition on the lines and rivets. The advanced Standing Liberty quarter specialist will find much to admire on this piece. Population: 23 in 66 (3 in 66+) Full Head, 3 finer. CAC: 10 in 66, 3 finer (9/24).(Registry values: N4719)
