Description

1929 Quarter, MS67 Full Head
Among the Finest Certified, CAC
Ex: North Shore

1929 25C MS67 Full Head PCGS. CAC. Ex: North Shore. The 1929, from a mintage exceeding 11 million pieces, is among the most plentiful Standing Liberty quarters. That said, Full Head Superb Gems are infrequently seen, even less so than the 1930 in Full Head. PCGS and NGC combined have graded only 35 such examples, including the present offering. Neither service has seen any numerically finer, and just six coins in this grade are CAC endorsed (3/26).
Both sides yield intense luster, and a whisper of reddish-gold patina concentrates around the lower obverse margin and orange-gold at the lower reverse periphery. The strike is bold, especially on Liberty's head, the stars, the shield rivets, and the leading edge of the eagle's left (facing) wing. Only the most minute marks appear under a loupe, leaving this coin with tremendous visual appeal for the issue. The last Superb Gem Full Head coin we handled was the MS67+ Full Head PCGS CAC Patton Collection coin in our August 2024 ANA Signature, which realized $72,000. In total, we have previously handled only three CAC-approved Superb Gem Full Head coins, one of which was this North Shore coin's earlier appearance in 2012. PCGS Population: 15 in 67 (3 in 67+), 0 finer (3/26). CAC: 6 in 67, 0 finer (3/26).
