Description

1924 Standing Quarter, MS67 Full Head
No Numerically Finer PCGS Examples

1924 25C MS67 Full Head PCGS. This Philadelphia issue is less plentiful in high grade than often recognized. The finest PCGS-certified Full Head pieces are three MS67+ Full Head submissions, with 15 MS67 Full Heads close to that top level. This is among the latter pieces. We handled it more than a decade ago, in 2013, making it one of the longer-recognized Superb Gems known and not the product of a recent upgrade. Champagne toning covers both sides of this pleasing example with full head definition. The strong strike extends to the shield rivets as well, with only minor incompleteness noted. Rich luster adds to the appeal of this Superb Gem. The coin is from an unclashed die state but still shows the rusted-die field luster common to most examples of the 1924. This piece is as close to a full strike as is ever seen on this date. PCGS Population: 18 in 67 (3 in 67+), 0 finer (5/26).
