The Nicobar shipwreck, a Danish East India Company vessel, sank in 1783 off the coast of South Africa during a voyage from India to Denmark. Discovered centuries later, the wreck revealed a treasure trove of artifacts, including silver coins, personal belongings, and remnants of its cargo: the whimsical Swedish Plate Money.
