Basel. City gold "Clucking Hen" 3 Ducat ND (c. 1620-1650) AU53 NGC, KM-Unl., Fr-78 (Rare), HMZ-Unl., SM-1166. 10.02gm. By Stefan Heinrich. An impressive if somewhat peculiar "ethical medal" that pairs the highly popular imagery of an obverse city view with the protective figure of a mother hen watching over her chicks. By all indications very scarce at this weight, with minimal wear, strong die polish, and inviting honey-golden color, making it fully desirable for the grade.
