Description

Vaud. Silver 40 Batz 1812, KM-17, Choice AU, a sharp and lovely piece, deeply struck with high borders and tons of luster beneath delicate golden toning. If dipped, this coin's flash would shine brightly but we don't recommend it. "Freedom and Fatherland" exclaims the motto of the canton, seen originally on a war flag of this place and also here on this big silver coin. The original Roman capital called Helvetia was a part of this territory. This is the first large coin issued in Vaud after confederation in 1803.
