    Description

Rare VF C. Bechtler Five Dollars, K-19

(1834-37) $5 C.Bechtler Five Dollar, 20 Distant VF25 NGC. K-19, High R.6. A clean straw-gold example of this challenging Bechtler gold variety. Portions of 140, CAROLINA, and RUTHERF are softly struck, but most legends are bold. A few moderate rim dings are appropriate for the grade, and a hair-thin diagonal flaw bisects the denomination side between 4:30 and 10:30. Listed on page 346 of the 2007 Guide Book.
