    Description

Near Mint C. Bechtler 134 G. Five Dollars

(1837-42) $5 C.Bechtler Five Dollar, 134G, With Star AU58 PCGS. K-20, R.4. Prooflike luster fills the legends of this charming example. Primarily straw-gold in color, with hints of rose hue in selected areas. The Kagin reference states, "Most have adjustment marks," but none are present on lightly abraded piece. A pinscratch beneath the first L in DOLLARS is barely worthy of individual mention. A straight die crack ascends through LIN in CAROLINA to the rim, and is often found on this variety. The Five Dollar Bechtler denomination is substantially scarcer than the One Dollar denomination. Listed on page 293 of the 2005 Guide Book. Population: 4 in 58, 1 finer (6/05).
