Gilt White Metal Nagy Restrike K-1g
1850 Baldwin & Co. Ten, MS62
"1850" 'Restrike' Baldwin & Co. Ten Dollar, White Metal Gilt
MS62 NGC. K-1g, R.6. 114.2 gn. The Stephen K. Nagy restrike
from 1909. The obverse shows extensive die rust but there are no
cuds on the lower right reverse, which are sometimes seen on the
silver restrikes. Well struck and satiny with unblemished surfaces.
The popularity and rarity of the genuine 1850 Baldwin & Co. tens,
with their famous cowboy design, inspired Nagy to strike pieces
from copy dies.Ex: Baltimore ANA Signature (Heritage, 8/2008), lot 3449, which realized $7,360.
