Mid-Grade 1849 Moffat & Co. Ten Dollar, K-5a Die Marriage1849 $10 Moffat & Co. Ten Dollar, "Ten D." VF20 PCGS. K-5a, High R.6. K-5a is differentiated from K-5 by large letters around the reverse periphery. Judging by current NGC and PCGS population data, VF appears to be the most prevalent grade among survivors of this Territorial gold issue. This is an aesthetically pleasing representative with deeply set, green-gold color that livens a bit to copper-gold overtones at a few angles. A well executed design, the devices retain relatively bold definition despite having seen 40 points of wear. The scattered abrasions are quite minimal for the grade, the most noticeable ones located under Liberty's eye and hair. This is an average or a bit above average representative for the variety and is really quite scarce. A great companion piece to the next lot. Listed on page 288 of the current Guide Book.
