    Description

    Late State 1849 K-4a Moffat Five, VF20

1849 $5 Moffat & Co. Five Dollar VF20 NGC. K-4a, R.4. This late die state example has a heavy die crack through the tops of FIVE DOL., with a branch through the E to the border. The extent of the die crack suggests a large mintage from a single die pair, and the R.4 rarity rating also suggests a significant survival rate. This green-gold piece has a few light hairlines and other imperfections, but presents a nice look despite considerable wear.
