    Description

    Beautiful MS61 Kagin-12a
    1852 Assay Office Ten Dollar

1852 $10 Assay Office Ten Dollar MS61 NGC. K-12a(2), R.5. Faint beads on the reverse rim. An imposing example of this scarce pioneer gold variety. The reverse has full luster, and obverse luster dominates the borders and devices. The eagle and shield display exceptional definition. Although most survivors have notable abrasions or other problems, the present lot is uncommonly mark-free. A speck of translucent residue is present on the D in DOL. Both sides have slender die cracks that may be interest to the specialist. Listed on page 363 of the 2009 Guide Book. Census: 23 in 61, 12 finer (11/08).
