    1855 Kellogg & Co. Twenty, XF45
    Short Arrows, K-3b Variety

1855 $20 Kellogg & Co. Twenty Dollar XF45 PCGS. K-3b, R.5. Although the San Francisco Mint began operations in 1854, the local economy depended on private mints to supply much of its needed coinage through 1855. The twenty dollar pieces of Kellogg & Co. were popular in daily use and three varieties are known to modern numismatists. The present coin represents the rare K-3b variety, with short arrows on the reverse. This example is moderately worn and abraded, and retains significant amounts of original mint luster. Population: 12 in 45, 34 finer (4/11).
