    Description

Kellogg & Co. Twenty Dollar, Choice XF
    K-3b, Important Territorial Issue

1855 $20 Kellogg & Co. Twenty Dollar XF45 PCGS. K-3b, R.5. Kellogg and Co. provided double eagles between the cessation of coinage at the U.S. Assay Office in late 1853 and the beginning of gold coin production at the San Francisco Mint (April 1854), as well as for a short time thereafter that extended into 1855. The reverse arrows are short, and the O of CO is in Liberty's hair rather than on the coronet. While the surfaces show a number of moderate abrasions, none of them are especially bothersome. Rich orange-gold surfaces deepen to copper-red at the obverse margins and over much of the reverse, enhancing the excellent appeal. Listed on page 406 of the 2018 Guide Book.
Ex: Summer FUN Signature (Heritage, 7/2007), lot 3326.
