    1861 $5 Clark, Gruber $5 Copper Die Trial MS62 Brown NGC. K-10c, R.7. Struck from the same dies as the gold 1861 Clark, Gruber variety. Liberty has an oversized chin and the eagle has a stout body. The copper pieces are known with a reeded edge (K-10c) or broadstruck with a plain edge (K-10b). The present reeded edge copper die trial exhibits deep olive-brown toning. The strike is good and no abrasions are apparent. The chin of the portrait displays a shallow strike-through, as minted. Census: 3 in 62 Brown, 2 finer (11/15).
