(1837-42) C.Bechtler Quarter Eagle, 64G. 22C. MS 60 PCGS. Kagin-11, Breen-7756. GEORGIA GOLD, uneven 22. Superb, deep, original coppery-rose, orange-gold and greenish color covers moderately hairlined, reflective surfaces. There is a very small Mint-made edge clip just past the A in GEORGIA. Scarce in all grades and among the finest known of this variety.
This type is a bit overrated in lower grades but it becomes rare in nice AU and very rare in Mint State. It is in great demand among Dahlonega gold coin collectors due to its Georgia association. Listed on page 273 of the 1998 Guide Book.
