    Description

Rare Mint State Georgia Bechtler Quarter Eagle

(1837-1842) C. Bechtler Quarter Eagle, 64G. 22C. MS 60 PCGS. Kagin-11, Breen-7756. GEORGIA GOLD, uneven 22. Struck from slightly rotated dies. Very attractive deep reddish-gold color covers slightly choppy, but lustrous surfaces. The edges lack any marks and the overall appearance of this coin is outstanding. It is, in fact, nearly a twin to the North Georgia collection: 7821 coin that realized $16,675 in our January 1999 sale.
This type is quite rare in Mint State. It is always in great demand among Dahlonega gold collectors due to its Georgia association. It is listed on page 273 of the 1999 Guide Book.
    From the Chestatee Collection.

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2B9G, PCGS# 10073)
