Rama IV Counterstamped Dollar ND (1858-1860) AU Details (Cleaned) PCGS, KM-C141.6, LeMay-pg. 95, Plate XXII, 5, Krisadaolarn/Mihailovs-pg. 148, Plate F05. By decree of January 7th, 1857. Counterstamps (AU Details): Mongkut and Chakra. Host: Mexico 8 Reales 1856 Zs-MO. Elusive in any grade, the present offering displaying very bold stamps.

Referred by some as the first Crown-sized coin of Thailand. The 1857 decree envisioned the regulation of foreign silver pieces which were being imported for trade, stipulating a fixed rate to exchange such coins with bullet coinage at the Royal Treasury.
